It's been a hot day...I love it! Its 11:30pm, I just came back from a gig and I need to work on making some parts for a big band rehearsal we have this friday. Since I know I'm gonna have to be up for a few hours why not work outside? So, as I told one of my roomates: "I'm gonna take the office outside!"...why not?
Had a great voice lesson today with Sofia Koutsovitis. I can't say it comes naturally for me...it really doesn't! But I know this will take many years so I'll just keep doing my thing. Check out Sofia's music, she is an amazing vocalist/composer and recently released her new album "Sube Azul". Here is her website: www.sofiamusic.com
A few months ago I wrote an article (actually, my first one!) for Pie Derecho (www.piederecho.com) a FREE monthly magazine that focuses on Latin culture in New York City. The article talks about my experiences walking around the city looking for places to perform and at the same time I recommend some small joints where you can check out great live music. Here is a copy of the article in spanish so you can read it. Also, keep an eye out for this wonderful magazine which you'll find for free all around the city!
Anyone know of any big bands in Miami? I'm trying to find a a 10-piece horn section that I can hire over there for a possible gig...any ideas? I'm open to suggestions so let me know if you know anyone that plays or is related to a big band in Miami. You can post the info below here. Thank you in advance!
I was just talking to a good friend back in Colombia. He's a filmmaker and we were catching up on what each of us is doing. More like how each of us a trying to find ways to sell, show, promote your idea...your creations, your "babies" (would be a better word actually). And the conclusion always ends up being that the only way to make your films (or songs, or paintings or whatever kind of project) reach out in to the world is by knowing they are the most important thing in the world for you!
Why I'm I telling you this? Well basically because he kept on joking and saying "oh yeah, well why don't you put that on your blog!"...so I'm happy to embarrass him bydoing so, 'cause isn't that what real friends are for!! hehe!
Playing tonight at "La Terraza" as part of the after-party for the opening of feature film "Entre Nos" (www.entrenosfilm.com). NO COVER and its open to the public so stop by for a little dancing and drinking.

I just came back from the seeing the space where we're playing a private show tonight. Its at Industria Superstudio (www.industrianyc.com) in the West Village and its looking great. Its a beautiful production and the design is done by famous food artist Jennifer Rubell (www.jenniferrubell.com)!
The event is organized by the Americas Business Council (www.americasbusinesscouncil.org) and we're ready to rock the place!
